Origin

Carbon-removal markets failed because no oracle was held accountable for any prediction made before any outcome resolved. Shirokuma is the first deal where Proof's oracle accountability becomes real. The asset is durable-removal carbon under a third-party-approved monitoring methodology; the intellectual mentor is a leading global expert in carbon-dioxide removal and Alex's named academic advisor.

Problem

Translating a verifiable real-world removal event into an on-chain instrument that institutions, retail, and protocol governance can all hold requires every primitive to clear at once. The fiscal primitive has to support yield-bearing settlement; ownership has to gate transfers by identity, lock, and holder concentration; identity has to handle multi-key custody and on-chain analytics; consent has to support confidential transfers above a threshold; the entity primitive has to give the deal a legal vehicle. If any primitive is missing, the deal is theatre.

Approach

Burn-to-redeem on-chain. Holders burn the token; the burn is the redemption event; the certified carbon credit stays retired in the registry; the holder has cryptographic proof of having retired a specific verified removal. The instrument's primitives stack — fiscal, ownership, identity, consent, and entity — with the fiscal, ownership, identity, and consent primitives currently active and the entity primitive pending the legal vehicle's formation.

Methodology

Day-zero mechanic: when the third-party certifier fires, the oracle fires the anchor receipt, the first milestone distribution releases, the protocol's accountability token mints for the first time, and the first public market opens. The certification fire is the genesis oracle event for the protocol — Proof's first non-self-referential prediction becoming economic. The full tranche stack is live, the risk layer is monitoring, and the mesh is published.
